If your pooch seems stressed — like being uncharacteristically aggressive or eating less than usual — this message is for you. Once you’ve ruled out medical causes, there are other ways you can help.
Just like in people, exercise is a stress-reliever in dogs. Try playing fetch, strolling around the block or doing something else to help your pooch release tension.
Also, make sure you’re feeding him a high-quality dog food balanced for his stage of life. Like the rest of us, dogs are what they eat. And key nutrients will help your dog build reserves needed to fight stress.
Then create a safe haven for your pooch to escape from noisy, scary events like storms and loud parties. A favorite blanket or toy might help, too. But nothing takes the place of your calming presence to help soothe your buddy’s jittery nerves.
