More than 150 species of internal parasites can affect horses, causing disease and occasionally even leading to death. Recently, the approach to equine parasite control has changed, now with a focus on both disease prevention and preventing drug resistance in parasites.  On this show, Dr. Martha Mallicote, an equine internal medicine specialist, teams up with Dr. Heather Walden, a parasitologist, to discuss common equine parasites, the damage they can do and how to minimize the chance of infection through an effective parasite control program.
