Use of Electrochemotherapy in Treating Pets with Cancer

Electrochemotherapy is used to treat certain types of cancer in dogs, as well as several other animal species. This cutting-edge treatment has only been in use in veterinary medicine for a few years, but has shown very promising results. Through the use of electrochemotherapy, or ECT, traditional drugs are delivered directly to the site of cancerous tumors. Dr. Anna Szivek, a veterinary oncology specialist, will discuss the potential of this new treatment for more effectively targeting specific oncologic diseases, when the use of the technique might be beneficial, and how ECT differs from other traditional treatment methods.
