Speaker: Dr. Bobbi Conner
In pets as in people, coagulation is the body’s natural process through which blood clots form after injury to a blood vessel or tissue to prevent “bleeding out.” Dr. Bobbi Conner, an emergency and critical care specialist, will explain the process of coagulation and why proper blood clotting is so important to ensure optimal pet health. She also will discuss some of the situations emergency veterinarians encounter in patients that can be related to issues with blood clotting, such as rat poisoning cases, and will also address common bleeding disorders, genetic and otherwise, that pets can experience and how these problems are treated.
