Animal Relocation Programs for Adoption: Why They’re Needed

Animal Relocation Programs for Adoption: Why They’re Needed

When animal shelters are overcrowded, a sad consequence can be the euthanasia of animals there is no room for. The use of effective animal relocation and transport programs can be key to saving lives in these situations. In principle, the programs target areas where the likelihood of adoption is slim for shelter animals and work to identify and transfer animals to areas where the chances of adoption are greater. On this show, Dr. Brian DiGangi, a clinical associate professor of shelter medicine at UF, will discuss how these programs work and what makes them successful.
