Showing veterinary staff some love

During the pandemic, stress has run high and patience has worn thin. Our pets have calmed us, but ironically, a number of us have taken out our anxieties on the very professionals who give our pets their all.

As pet adoptions have soared, veterinary staffs have shrunk in the face of strict COVID-19 protocols. Veterinary professionals have struggled to meet the demand for pet care at affordable costs that can offset their bottom line. Often, that’s come at the expense of their own mental health.

But there are ways to lighten our loads and theirs, too. If you haven’t already, start a pet emergency fund and consider getting pet insurance. And if you have questions about your pet’s health or its effects on your wallet, have a heart-to-heart with your veterinarian instead of ranting.

Remember, we’re all in this together.
