Show Some Restraint

Dogs love the thrill of a car ride! But unless you exercise some restraint, you may get an adventure you weren’t bargaining for.

Unrestrained pet passengers can be seriously injured or hurt others in collisions or during sudden braking. An unrestrained 90-pound dog becomes a 2,700-pound projectile in a crash that occurs at 30 miles per hour.

Two out of three drivers with pet buddies in the car are distracted by playing with, feeding or trying to restrain their pets. Some people will even let pet buddies sit in their laps. And because 20 percent of injury crashes involve distracted driving, this scenario is an accident waiting to happen.

A body harness that comfortably straps your dog into his seat will make for a much safer car ride. So buckle up before the next road trip and have some tail-waggin’ fun!
