Managing microchip data

Managing microchip data

Spring is a time for renewal and reset—so what better time to double-check the contact information on your pet’s microchip?

By now, chances are you know the importance of microchips in returning lost pets home safely. But keep in mind that the fate of a lost pet is only as good as the contact information linked with the chip.

So, take time each spring to confirm your address and phone number with the manufacturer of your pet’s microchip. And as a second layer of protection, consider registering the information with a national microchip database, too.

If your pet still hasn’t been microchipped, keep in mind that 1 in 3 pets will get lost during their life. Without up-to-date contact information, only about 10% of them get back home. Make sure the odds are in your pet’s favor.
