Just like any other pet, hamsters deserve the best care

Hamsters are often touted as “starter pets,” but that’s as inaccurate as it is callous. In reality, it takes lots of work to care for them properly.

It’s important to know that hamsters are nocturnal and solitary. Each requires a well-ventilated, escape-proof cage with space for daytime sleeping and an exercise wheel for use at night. Soft absorbent bedding helps them form sleeping nests and absorbs some of their waste. However, soiled bedding needs daily replacement, and all bedding should be changed weekly.

Hamsters need to be fed pelleted food formulated just for them. They can occasionally be fed small amounts of seeds or veggies, but just as treats.

Hamsters may only live for up to three years. During that time, they deserve the best life a pet parent can provide.
