How Vaccination Programs Keep Beef Cattle Healthy

Beef cattle herds should be vaccinated regularly to protect the animals from diseases caused by infectious organisms such as viruses, bacteria and protozoans. Vaccines work by stimulating an animal’s immune system to produce a protective response against an organism and are very effective. On this show, Dr. Joao Bittar, UF’s beef cattle extension veterinarian, will discuss common vaccinations given to beef cattle, what’s involved in administering the vaccines and why ongoing vaccination programs are so important for cattle health.
