While cardiovascular disease in horses is less common than in people, dogs and cats, because horses are often expected to perform work or athletic feats, their cardiovascular condition may be relatively more important, according to the Merck Veterinary Manual. On this show, Dr. Meg Sleeper, a veterinary cardiology specialist, will discuss how heart problems are most frequently diagnosed in horses, and some of the tools that specialists are able to use these days to both diagnose and treat different types of heart disease when it occurs in their equine patients.
