Getting ready for baby

If you’re expecting your first child, your furry or feathered “baby” will likely need some help getting used to the human one. The key is setting up a routine that makes your pet feel secure well in advance of baby’s homecoming. Here are some initial tips.

Gradually start instituting schedule changes that incorporate your pet’s need for exercise and attention. If your pet’s behavior needs fine-tuning, address it now. Also, plan supervised time with children if your pet isn’t used to their company. And decide which areas of your house will be off-limits to your pet once baby arrives. Make these boundaries known while establishing a safe, comfortable retreat for your pet.

A little effort on your part before your bring home baby can help ease the transition for the whole family.
