Do you think you can tell if your dog or cat is ill? What if you and your furry friend are away from home when you have a pet emergency?
Now there is a virtual assistant to help you through a pet crisis. The American Red Cross, in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, has developed a mobile app called “Pet First Aid.” The app displays data for normal dogs and cats so pet parents can recognize abnormalities. Use of GPS technology can pinpoint the nearest veterinary hospital. You can even store your pet’s information in the app and email it to a veterinarian prior to your visit.
Clinicians who’ve vetted the app say it includes common pet emergencies and provides enough information without overwhelming pet parents.
With first-aid tips on the go, maybe now you can breathe easier.
