Fearful Foliage and Poison Plants for Small And Large Animals

(Original airdate: June 15, 2018)

Small and large animals can be exposed to a variety of plants, whether in the home or outside. Some of these plants can cause big problems for pets. For example, some ornamental house plants are as dangerous as certain noxious weeds in pastures. It is important for pet owners and veterinarians to recognize the clinical signs associated with plant toxicosis, or poisoning. On this show, Dr. Chris Martyniuk, a toxicologist, will discuss plants that are common offenders when it comes to poisoning small and large animals, and why awareness is the single most important variable in protecting pets and livestock from poisonous plants.
