Clinical Trials in Veterinary Medicine

Clinical Trials in Veterinary Medicine

Clinical research studies, also known as clinical trials, are studies that help doctors investigate methods to improve detection, prevention, or treatment of diseases. Clinical trials may offer a treatment option for a pet that is not yet available, or may help to discover the cause for a disease. Additionally, some clinical trials can also impact human health. On this show, Lana Fagman, a clinical research coordinator, and Dr. Allison O’Kell, a small animal internal medicine specialist, of the UF College of Veterinary Medicine Clinical and Translational Research team, will discuss what clinical trials involve, how safety to participants is maximized, and how these studies may help advance the future of veterinary and human medicine.
