For pet parents with hectic schedules, doggy day care offers the attention and company many dogs crave. But is this choice right for your four-legged friend?
Day care is a great option for dogs with pent-up energy, or those who get anxious when left alone. Ideal candidates have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered and love hanging out with other dogs. Overall, they’re conscientious canine citizens — that is, they play well with other dogs and people.
Conversely, doggy day care is not a good fit for aggressive or fearful dogs. Likewise, a pooch who hasn’t been socialized may scare other dogs or be scared by them. And some dogs tend to avoid their barking brethren. For these guys, alternative care options might include a dog walker or sitter.
You know your dog better than anyone, and that will help you make the right choice.
