Chip in for safety

Chip in for safety

A lost animal is every pet lover’s nightmare. But thanks to microchipping, some of that worry can be put to rest.

A microchip is a small electronic transmitter that is injected under your pet’s skin. When a scanner is passed over the area, the chip’s unique identification number is displays on the screen. Register that number along with your contact information in a national database, and your pet is electronically linked to home.

Any lost pet that is found and taken to a shelter or clinic is scanned for a microchip. Once shelter or clinic employees have the chip’s I-D number, they can find you in the database.

Microchips can be placed in all kinds of animals, from dogs and cats to birds and snakes. In most cases, your veterinarian can implant one during an office visit. So chip in and ease your worry!
