Cats seem to have a motive for everything they do. So why is it your feline friend intentionally knocks things over?
One of the reasons our cats bat at knickknacks is to hone their predatorial skills. When cats hunt, they paw their prey. And when they encounter small objects in our homes, some do the same in the hope that the “object” might move and become a tasty snack.
But even when they’ve learned their lesson, certain cats persist just for fun. And although they may seem not to care, some cats topple trinkets just to get our attention—usually because they want to eat or play.
So, if you want to avoid broken bric-a-brac, here are a couple of tips. Make sure you schedule routine mealtimes. And offer a variety of climbing and hiding areas—including some that let your cat look out onto the great outdoors.
