Animal shelters are getting very creative about ways to adopt out their furry charges. Here’s a great example.

For the past 2 years, a Mississippi hotel has fostered adoption-ready dogs from a nearby animal shelter. As usual, all dogs have been neutered or spayed, have microchip ID’s and are current on vaccinations and parasite preventatives. The difference is, they’re set up in roomy quarters in the lobby where they can meet visitors.

The hotel serves many guests who stay for months, which is enough time to build a relationship with a pooch. If a guest wants to adopt one of the dogs, they complete the paperwork right at the hotel. Once the shelter gives a final nod of approval, adopted dogs can move right into their new family’s room.

So far, this win-win program has adopted out over 33 dogs.
